About the project
A Brand That Says "Different" Without Saying It Twice
RIVET needed a custom motorcycle brand identity and website design that earned power, precision, and freedom not just claimed them. American Design Hub built an aggressive wordmark and dark build photography, organized around Models, Custom Builds, and Performance.
Challenge
Building credibility in a category built on legacy
Most motorcycle brands fall into one of two visual traps: vintage Americana leaning on eagles and flames, or sterile manufacturer catalogue design built for spec sheets, not riders. RIVET didn't belong in either lane; the brand needed to be read as raw and engineered first, premium second, without leaning on either cliche to get there.
Our direction
Built on contrast, not decoration
Instead of reaching for chrome and vintage badge work the easy move in motorcycle branding RIVET committed to a stripped-down black, white, and red palette as the only signal it needed, on purpose. That left the wordmark and its angular "R" mark to earn recognition through form alone, and left dramatic, dark build photography to carry the emotional weight color usually does.
The "R" isn't a badge bolted onto the wordmark; it's cut at the same aggressive angle as the letters beside it, so it reads as one continuous mark built for speed, not a logo plus a symbol.
Every application tank graphic, helmet, jacket patch, website pulls from the same restrained toolkit: one typeface, absolute black, absolute white, and a single accent of red as the only variable allowed to shift.
Project process
Four Decisions, One System
Discovery
Before drawing anything, we mapped what actually separates one motorcycle brand from another once the marketing language is stripped away of engineering, fit, and the nerve to keep the palette this raw.
Direction
Red wasn't decoration, it was brief. Limiting colour to a single accent meant every decision after it had to be justified through angle and weight alone.
Identity
The wordmark and the "R" were built as one unit, not assembled separately, then tested at tank-badge size, patch size, and dealership-sign size until neither broke down at any of the three.
Application
Identity came first, the website second, build photography last so the brand had to prove itself on steel and stitching before it ever leaned on imagery to sell the idea.
Digital expression
A site organized like a garage, not a brochure
RIVET's homepage opens with Built to Be Different built for riders, not browsers. Navigation by Models, Custom Builds, and Performance skips the story. Dark, high-contrast photography keeps the custom motorcycle website focused on the machine.
Final outcome
One brand, one accent color, built to be remembered
RIVET now has an identity that doesn't need chrome or clichés to be recognized; the wordmark, the angular mark, and the photography direction carry it on their own, whether it's stitched onto a jacket or scaled up for a showroom wall. The website sells the same way the brand looks: direct, mechanical, and built around what riders are actually there to do to find a machine worth building a life around.
