Manhattan Tennis Association
A club identity drawn from the city's skyline, not its scoreboard.

A Tennis Brand Built From the City, Not the Sport: Tennis Club Branding for a Modern NYC Community.
Most tennis clubs reach for a racket, a ball, a net. Manhattan Tennis Association asked for the opposite, a brand rooted in the borough itself, able to sit next to a century-old club crest or a modern fitness app icon. American Design Hub answered with a mark built from the city's own architecture: a suspension bridge rendered as a net line, with a flag marking center court. From there, the identity extended into a booking platform, signage, and heritage merchandise, so every visitor recognizes the same brand.
Challenge
Look Premium Without Looking Borrowed: A Tennis Club Brand Built to Stand on Its Own.
New York already has a century of tennis club iconography to compete with crests, crossed rackets, laurel wreaths. Manhattan Tennis Association needed a mark that read as established from day one, without leaning on any of that shorthand, plus a booking experience modern enough to sit next to any fitness app on a member's phone.
Our direction
A Bridge Instead of a Racket | Manhattan Logo Design & Brand Identity.
Rather than illustrate the sport, the mark illustrates the city hosting it. A suspension bridge silhouette doubles as a net line, with a single flag standing in for centre court, a quiet nod to Manhattan's own skyline instead of a stock tennis icon. Deep hunter green and aged ivory root the brand in classic clubhouse tradition, the same palette that's marked tennis whites and grass courts for a century.
A bridge-and-flag emblem paired with a condensed, arched wordmark built to read as an established institution rather than a new club chasing credibility.
A green-and-ivory palette carried from the primary logo through a reversed dark mark, a weathered signage treatment, and on-court paint applications.
Project process
From Blueprint to Baseline
Discovery
We looked at where tennis branding always goes, rackets, balls, crossed lines and asked what Manhattan itself could offer instead.
Direction
Positioning locked around heritage without cliche: a deep green and ivory palette borrowed from classic clubhouse tradition, applied to something entirely new.
Identity
The bridge-and-flag emblem and wordmark were built together, then aged and weathered for signage before being cleaned up for digital use.
Application
The system extended across a full court-booking platform, on-court paint, signage, and heritage-style merchandise one identity, every surface.
Digital expression
A Booking Platform That Feels Like Membership
The website opens with "Book Your Tennis Court Anytime, Anywhere," organised around three plain steps: find a court, book instantly, play and enjoy. Real-time availability, venue comparison, and pay-in-seconds checkout sit inside the same dark, clubhouse-green interface as the logo itself, so booking a court never feels like leaving the brand for a generic scheduling tool.
Final outcome
A Club Identity Strong Enough to Stand on Its Own, Without a Single Racket in the Logo.
Manhattan Tennis Association now has a brand that reads as established the moment someone sees it on a court, a duffel bag, or a booking confirmation without a single racket in sight. The result is an identity built to outlast a single season: premium, athletic, and unmistakably tied to the city it's named for.
